I was expecting to have a handbook for the second generation Pokemon that was just like the original handbook for the first generation.
One of the biggest things missing out of this Handbook 2 is at what level Pokemon evolve at. It's also missing a LOT of the Pokemon. Looking through it, it's as if they only included the Pokemon seen in the TV show while in the Johto region, instead of having it include all the Pokemon found in the Johto region. The main reason I got this book was to help with playing the Gold and Silver Pokemon games for Gameboy, but it's next to useless for that.
I had this book when i was a kid but it got thrown away. Ordering it was a nice way to revisit some good memories. For example on page 37 in Pikachu's description it says "Pikachu do not like to be inside Poke Balls".
This is a generalized statement based off of the fact that Ash's pikachu doesn't like to be in his poke ball. This is also the case with the surfing pikachu ash and the gang meet during season 1 of the tv show. Slight discrepancies like this are common throughout the book. That is the only downside to this book, otherwise its very interesting and also worth the money.

I ordered a used one because I wanted it to have the same look and feel as my old handbook. It's as if I never lost my old one! The back cover has a tear in it, and it appears to have suffered extremely minimal water exposure, but none of the pages were damaged or sticky, and I am very excited to have this book from my childhood once again in my possession. This book covers Pokemon red and blue and yellow I think so it's the old school Pokemon. But if you want that it is essential, it covers every Pokemon, their strengths, weaknesess, where to find them, rarity, how to to evolve them and at what level they do. If you want 'to catch em all' it helps give u the ability to do just that.

Lovely bright colours, name pronunciation guides are useful too especially with the American accents on the cartoon - we're Englishand more importantly, the original and best Pokemon!
